These are abstracts from a past symposium on APOE ,the major genetic risk factor in Alzheimer's disease, and also a key player in atherosclerosis. These associations have been known for some time, although there is as yet no effective "APOE drug" . Nevertheless, potential protective factors, for example fish consumption, or lowering cholesterol levels can perhaps be related to APOE's diverse roles.
