TGF-β1 affects endothelial cell interaction with macrophages and T cells leading to the development of cerebrovascular amyloidosis.

This study builds on work showing that  TGF beta increases beta-amyloid deposition in blood vessels. These types of insult are important as they indicate some of the many events that may preceds amyloid deposition
(cf cholesterol or herpes infection). These are targetable and druggable. Attacking beta-amyloid has so far not been successful,
