A Pilot Study of Gene/Gene and Gene/Environment Interactions in Alzheimer Disease.

Many Alzheimer's disease environmental risk and protective factors can be related to specific subsets of susceptibility genes . For example fish consumption and polyunsaturated fats (protective) or high saturated fat consumption or cholesterol levels (risky)  can be related to cholesterol and  lipoprotein related genes, autoimmune diseases and atopy  associated with Alzheimer's disease to immune-related genes, the inverse association with cancer with cell-cycle and DNA repair genes and so on. This is summarised in a risk factor database.
