A potential cure for Alzheimer's disease ?

Beta-amyloid and the  mutant APP proteins contain short contiguous amino acid stretches exactly matching those in multiple viruse, phages and bacteria, many of which have been implicated in Alzheimer's disease. These viral matches are often immunogenic and could also target the human proteins, killing the neurones in which they reside by autoimmune activation  inflammatory mechanisms and complement-related lysis. This suggests that immunosuppressants could delay the onset and halt the progression of both late-onset and familial Alzheimer's  disease.
