Image via WikipediaLower CSF levels of the plant sterol brassicasterol were observed in Alzheimer's disease patients. Brassicasterol is a product of oilseed rape , a margarine ingredient, that contains omega-3 and omega-6 unsaturated fatty acids (the good ones also present in fish). High levels of polyunsaturated fats, or fish consumption, have been associated with a lower incidence of Alzheimer's disease while saturated fats (e.g. from red meat) have been associated with high incidence.
