Host genetics plays unexpected role in dance with pathogen

The pathological effects of Yersinia pestis infection in mice varies according to the genetic strains of the infected mice. Bacteria and viruses are involved as risk factors in many diseases, and their associated genes are  often implicated in pathogen-related pathways, and in immunity.
