β-Hexachlorocyclohexane levels in serum and risk of Parkinson's disease.

β-Hexachlorocyclohexane levels in serum are associated with the risk of developing Parkinson's disease. This is a by-product of the insecticide, lindane. Although its use has been banned, its traces can still be found in soil and water, and its effects evidently linger on in terms of risks such as these. Several other studes have linked pesticide use to this disorder.
